Modified Intermittent Fast

I've decided to embark on a water fasting journey, following the snake diet fasting protocol. This involves creating my own 'snake juice,' an electrolyte drink mixture containing baking soda, no-salt, Himalayan pink salt, and magnesium. The protocol is similar to Cole Robinson's snake diet, which essentially provides an electrolyte-rich beverage to sustain the body during fasting periods.

My plan is to prepare four liters of this snake juice at a time, which will be my sole beverage during the fasting period. I'm aiming for an initial 72-hour fast, starting tomorrow evening after dinner. The fast will continue until either Saturday or Sunday morning, depending on how I feel. This means I'll be fasting for approximately 48 to 72 hours.

After breaking the initial fast, I'll transition to a more sustainable intermittent fasting routine. I'll aim to eat within a one-hour window every 24 to 48 hours, depending on how I feel. During these eating windows, I plan to be more lenient with my food choices, including some sugar, which I previously avoided. However, I'll try to keep my intake reasonable and focus on minimizing added fats.

This shift in approach stems from my current weight status. While I generally agree with paleo and primal diets that include healthy fats, I believe that my excess body weight requires a different strategy. By reducing dietary fat intake, I aim to encourage my body to burn stored fat more efficiently, rather than processing newly ingested fats.

I'll still avoid polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and opt for healthier oil options like avocado, olive, or sesame oil when necessary. I'm also no longer demonizing sugar, especially natural sugars found in fruits and even white cane sugar or honey in moderation. The key is to keep overall calorie intake below 2000 calories and to separate high-fat meals from high-carb ones.

My goal is to maintain this protocol for about a month, from October 16th to November 30th. I'm starting at 217 pounds and aiming to reach between 190 and 195 pounds. Even getting under 200 pounds would be a significant achievement, as my lowest weight in recent years was 209 pounds.

Throughout this process, I'll rely on the snake juice as my primary source of hydration and electrolytes, only deviating during my eating windows where I might include coffee or other beverages. By following this plan, I hope to reset my metabolism, burn excess fat, and achieve a healthier weight. It's an experiment in combining extended fasting with strategic refeeding, and I'm eager to see the results.
